 He just couldn't sit around while danger was afoot, and when danger was afoot, he knew that danger involves the Chaos Emeralds...as well as his Master Emerald. Sure, he should be watching the emerald, but he had Chaos to take care of that. And with Sonic in Blaze's world, someone had to gather the Chaos Emeralds before anyone like Mogul would. That was why Knuckles was gliding over the flooded ruins in South Island. |

Suddenly, an aircraft flew for the island, approaching the mountain ruins.  "Commander, we're near South Island where the chaos signature is being detected from!"  "Good." Speedy nodded from his seat, running his fully armored arm, "Be on the watch for any threats, say it be Sonic the Hedgehog or his friends." Those words, while simple and reasonable, shocked the troops. All glancing at Speedy. "Sonic?" "He is the world's hero, right?" "Eh, of course Commander!" The Kukku nodded, though skeptic before he pulled a level to guide the airship down. |

"That don't look friendly..." he growled, seeing a certain craft slowly lowering behind the ruins, far ahead. There was only one reason someone would want to come here. A Chaos Emerald. "Game on," and he disengaged from the wind, dropping toward the ruins. |

As the ship landed, the side doors opened up deploying the Kukku Combatants. "I don't get it, if the Prince did tried to kill his own father, why is allowed back? Hell, even still leading us!" "How should I know? What I'm wondering is what's with the Commander. He's been acting strange lately." "Quite wasting time asking questions you won't get an answer and start searching!" The third barked, they all lifting up boulders and bricks as they walk up a stone stairs. |

"Hmph..." peaking from the bushes, he watched as they all went inside the hidden entrance to the flooded ruins. He could follow them, but given his powers, plus his gear he found during the ARK incident, he could track and get the emerald the easy way. |

Later, a hole cracked from the ceiling in the caverns, for Knuckles to poke out. He can see the ducks using scuba gear to navigate the waters. And for good reason, for he can sense a Chaos Emerald underwater. Putting a air-piece in his mouth, he dropped right in the waters. |

Back in the airship, the other Kukku Combatants were able to watch what their comrades were seeing thanks to cameras in their helmets. "Sir, our men have submerge into the labyrinth. With the map data we've collected from explorers who've went inside, hopefully we'll be able to navigate them before their air would run out." "Good!" The Prince nodded, "What about that machinery you've been working on? Is it ready if there's any trouble?" A Kukku pressed a button, it raised a tube from the ground of a glass cylinder with a mechanical humanoid inside. "We're just making the upgrades you have given to us, its a unique piece of hardware." The Prince didn't say a thing, but gazed at the robot. One eye was red, the other... was bulging. |

Swimming into the deaphs, he can see the small group down below. He kept a gradual pace, hoping not to get their attention. He'll bust heads once they find the emerald. |

"Sir, take a look at this!" One of the Kukkus said. Stepping to the console, the Prince saw a detailed map of the maze, blinking dots representing their troops. Every once in a while, a radio wave would echo out, flowing through the water and detecting other objects. One of the these however, was large and moving. "It seems to big to be a fish, and its following the men so it can't be a corpse." Getting back up, he crossed his arms. "Deploy that machine, we got ourselves trouble." The Kukkus nodded, typing codes on the console. From the tube, the floor slid away, dropping the mechanical humanoid.
STOMP!  It fell to the grass, its eyes lit up. "You can here me, right?" A voice buzzed in the mechanical creature's head, "There's an emerald within this maze, however we're having trouble. I trust you remember what we've programmed into your mind, correct?"The machine made no response, it lifted an arm, spikes on his hand shined. Smashing to the ground, it began to dug into the earth. |

"What? I thought we were going to snatch the emerald!""Relax, we've detected a disturbance. We're sending our latest 'agent' to deal with it."Who?"STOMP! Parts of the ceiling broke away as the machine landed on an island on bricks. It was Mobian size, around Knuckle's height, and shape... namely, since it looked like Knuckles! It was his second robotic copy Eggman has used, though it was primitive compared to Metal Knuckles. It seems the Kukkus have and found repaired it, namely by adding in new features. Namely the right side of the face and arm.  The eyes of the robots buzzed, scanning for movements in the water around him. He found a group a group of those Kukkus, and another presence some distance from them. Spinning in the air, he dove into the water.

Though he was too deep in the water to notice, and Knuckles was reaching a sunken temple, which he swam in. Going inside, he saw the water didn't reach high up, so when he surfaced, he saw some halls. "Oh good. If I had to break those birds' heads, I do better on dry land." |

It was the robot first who dug through the floor. It backflipped down the hall and landed on his legs, scanning the red echidna. "Knuckles the Echidna... I didn't expect you." The robot said, something it previously lacked.

I must say, for a worm of a bloodline that flows through him, I must admit his technology is acceptable."From the tunnel, the Kukku's poked their heads out, but gulped when they saw Knuckles and the robot and dove back into the water. |

The original mechanical parts from Mecha Knuckles emitted a light, projecting the white fur of an old echidna.  Looking at pseudo-organic half, the echidna smirked. "Just as I remembered it." Turning to Knuckles, "Ah yes, let me introduce myself. My name is Zachary the Echidna... or, former one." |
